VertexDisplacementMap_v2 - Colorize option no longer working - ANSWERED

since the release of VertexDisplacementMap_v2, the ‘colorize’ option is no longer working. in v1, you could colorize the mesh / material with the displacement texture. I just noticed that in the example patch for VertexDisplacementMap_v2, a BasicMaterial is used to colorized the displaced mesh/material.
wondering if this is a bug or if this is the preferred way to do things.
