Compositing texture/ vertex displacement map for a spherical object

ive been trying create spherical object where texture matches the displacement. Much like isolines in cartography but realtime on a 3d sphere. It works just fine when applied on the rect, but on a spheres i get weird artifacts and things not lining up. So basically like this great bagoof patch) but on sphere.

Could you post a public patch so we can take a look at what you’re trying to achieve?

I recereated it and it kinda works but i still get this weird densities at the poles and seam along the side.

is there a possible workaround to texture a sphere, maybe possibly a triangle sphere?
